Why Apples, Oranges are always attracting while Blueberries not?
We always heard of "Eating a Rainbow". We all know, Fruits and Vegetables are of different colors because of pigmentation and possess different nutritional properties, as they are the rich source of vitamins and minerals and helps in weight management and plays important role in therapeutic diets too.
But, Have we ever thought that colors impact our Appetite. We eat from our eyes first, if the food appeals to our eyes, then only we try to eat it. We all have seen different varieties of cooked rice in different colors like yellow rice, orange rice, green rice, white rice, but have we ever thought of blue rice. We relate color with the ripeness of fruits and vegetables also.
According to different researches, colors affect the appetite.
RED: Appetizer
According to various research, Red stimulates hunger and is being followed by many Food chains in their dining area, logos, menu etc.
This is why Apples, Strawberries, Red Capsicum etc. are always in the appetizing.
YELLOW: Happiness
Generally, people show their happiness, love in terms of food. Yellow is the color of happiness and gives a positive feeling, which increases appetite. So, there is no wonder if Mangoes are one of the favorite fruit of everyone.
GREEN: Healthy
We all are advised to eat Green vegetables from our parents and grandparents. Green is usually associated with Health. This is the reason, Green Vegetables like Spinach, Cucumber, Broccoli are always the important part of our plates.
ORANGE: Refreshing
Thinking about getting refreshed or energized, Oranges or Orange juice is a perfect choice. Orange gives the sense of satisfaction, refreshment, and energy.
WHITE: Subtle
Foods like Potato, Banana are rich in calories but because of their great taste, we forget to consume in limits like potato chips. But foods like onion, garlic are good to be the part of our diet because of their high antioxidant properties
BLUE: Suppress Appetite
Eggplant, Blackberries (Jamun), Blueberries etc. are actually of different shades of purple color. Naturally, there is no Blue colored food. The blue color does not trigger the hormones for hunger rather they suppress. That's why I asked if someone could imagine Blue Colored Rice above. Moreover, Blue color is considered poisonous or lethal as fruits or vegetables are considered inedible if they become blue in color.
