#Food, #Infections, and #Monsoons

Monsoons have hit all the nation and finally arrived in Delhi NCR. We all love Monsoons, they give relief us from the scorching heat and our love for Chai Pakoras floods out in this season. Besides all this, Monsoons bring lots of infections with them or we can say, one of the best time for bacterias or viruses to reproduce. Diseases such as Malaria, Typhoid, Cholera, VIral fever, etc. are common in this season. Mosquitoes, stagnant water, contaminated air and contaminated food are the main reasons for these infections.

To enjoy this season to the fullest below is the list of foods, one should avoid.
  • #Salads: Fruits and vegetables sliced for a long time could have a chance to come in contact with contaminated monsoon air, results in infections.
  • #Green Leafy Vegetables: Though Green Leafy Vegetables are the good sources of vitamins and minerals but the moisture present in them proves to be the best host for bacteria to grow in this season.
  • #Fried Foods: Pakoras, Samosas, Kachodis etc. are irresistible in this season, but high intake of these foods can cause bloating, indigestion etc., as the digestive system is slow in this season.
  • #Mustard Oil: Yes, Mustard oil is in this list. For proper digestion, one should stick to light oils like Olive oil, Canola oil, Rice Bran oil. Desi Ghee can also be a part of or Meal plan.
  • #Fruits: Like Green Leafy Vegetables Fruits from Melon family like Watermelon, Musk Melons should be avoided in this season because of their high moisture content.

In spite of the above food list, one can have light vegetables like Ghiya, Tori, Karela, Tinda etc. and Fruits like Kiwi, Pomegranate, Pear, Apple, Jamun etc. Have lots of water to keep ourselves hydrated. We can have Lemon water, Lemon Ginger Tea, Cinnamon water, carom seeds water, cumin seeds water in this season.Besides this, we should avoid street food because of unhygienic conditions, should not let the water stand for a long time, should maintain the proper cleanliness and hygiene.
